Far from a chef, my family does have some good health food tips and recipes we've learned. As new-comers to healthy eating, we had to start at ground level.
The first, most basic tip... portion control. We eat less and feel fuller using smaller plates. We used to use the scale to measure weights and serving sizes, but that got old REAL quick with no results. In its place? This simple rule: 1/2 plate fruits and veggies, 1/4 plate protein, 1/4 plate grains. Quick and easy way to keep things balanced!

This has to be my new favorite frozen food! |
My junk food weakness: Pizza. Left alone, I can eat an entire large pizza by myself and not have a second thought. With most take out cheese pizza loaded with about 220 calories a slice on average, a large pizza is about 1760 calories. This entire Kashi pizza is 570 calories, and DELICIOUS. I'm salivating just thinking about it...
